Canopic Jars

Miss McF - 17 Mar 2016

We have started to learn about Ancient Egypt this term, and one of their more interesting traditions! Canopic jars were used to store organs of dead bodies before they were mummified.  The canopic jars were then placed in the tomb or coffin with the body.  Children chose to replicate one of the four heads used in Ancient Egyptian times, or to create a new head for their canopic jar.

On the same day Mr. Guy helped us to plant some broad beans for 'Grow your own picnic'.  We will be hoping to make broad bean dip to accompany vegetables that other classes have grown!
