Eid Mubarak!
Many of our Coppetts Wood families spent yesterday celebrating Eid al-Adha. We hope that you enjoyed a wonderful time with family and friends.
Mrs Andrea Goldring, our new School Business Manager, has been busy getting to know our school, staff and pupils, during her first week at Coppetts Wood. She is keen to get to know families and any issues or feedback that you have, to help improve our communication, systems and processes, when working with families. Please do pop-in and say hello - she is currently based at Coppetts Wood, Monday to Wednesday until the end of term, and then joins us full-time, from September.
I would also like to welcome Mrs Leela Palton-Jones to Coppetts Wood, as our new Inclusion Manager and Assistant Headteacher. Mrs Palton-Jones is an experienced SENCO and senior leader and will be working closely with teachers across the school and Mrs Maltese.
This half-term's value is ambition. During assemblies, pupils have been considering what it means to be ambitious and think about their own goals and ambitions. We have also discussed how school supports and encourages pupils to be ambitious.
"When we went swimming, some children started out not being able to swim and then by the end, they were much more confident and could swim." Aliya, Y4
"We were taught to 'never give up' when we were practising for our Frozen show." Diana, Y5
"In computing, we had to do some really hard tasks... some challenges that were so hard." Maksym, Y5
I am excited to announce that to support and promote our value of ambition, Coppetts Wood will be holding a Careers Day, on Friday 11th July, 2025. We hope to inspire and motivate pupils to be curious and ambitious about the world of education and work and inspire their dreams and goals for the future. We would love parents and carers to get involved in the day. A letter will be shared on Monday, explaining how, if you have some time to spare, you can support this event.
NHS North Central London has launched a campaign encouraging people to download the NHS App to help manage your health. The campaign encourages everyone to use the app to order repeat prescriptions, securely access your health records and see test results to help you better understand and manage your health, without having to phone your GP practice. Find out more at www.nhs.uk/nhsapp
Reminder - our summer fair takes place on Saturday 12th July, 2025. Please let the school office know if you are able to help with the organisation of the event, if you would like to run a stall or if you have any prizes to donate.
Cases of measles are increasing locally. Measles spreads quickly and can cause serious illness. To stop the spread and reduce serious illness, make sure your child is up to date with their MMR vaccinations. The MMR vaccine is offered at 1 year (first dose) and 3 years and 4 months (second dose).
If your child missed one or two doses of the MMR vaccine, contact your GP practice and book an appointment. All routine childhood vaccines are free. Or attend a catch up clinic, details below:
- MMR Paediatrics clinic at UCLH
- MMR Clinic Paediatrics Department, Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Wing, University College Hospital, 25 Grafton Way London, WC1E 6DB.
- Saturday 29 June, 9am to 4:45pm
- Book your appointment here
- Translation services are available for patients whose first language is not English.

Next week, pupils in Y5 (and a few in Y4 and Y6) will be taking part in the Barnet Schools Music Festival. They have been busy practising their songs and will participate in a performance at the Artsdepot, collaborating with other Barnet schools. Good luck, Coppetts Wood!
